How to Prioritise Yourself (Without the Guilt)

Are you putting your goals on hold, waiting for the ‘right time’?

Not just a quiet moment for yourself - but the big things.

Your career. Your passions. The dream you keep pushing to ‘someday’.

I get it. When my first son was 18 months old, I hit rock bottom. I had spent so much time putting everyone else first that I barely recognised myself. Somewhere along the way, my ambitions, my identity, my purpose - they had all been buried under the relentless to-do list of motherhood.

Then I realised something: prioritising myself wasn’t selfish - it was essential.

And if you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to focus on yourself, here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Your dreams are just as important as anyone else’s

If your child or partner had a big goal, you’d support them without hesitation, right? It’s time to give yourself that same encouragement. You don’t have to wait for permission to chase your ambitions.

2. There will never be a ‘perfect time’

I used to tell myself, I’ll focus on my goals when life calms down, when the kids are older, when I have more breathing space… But that moment never magically arrived.

Instead, I had to choose to prioritise my goals in the middle of life’s chaos. And you can too.

3. You’re not just doing this for you

What if your children grew up seeing you not just as their mum, but as a woman who goes after what she wants? What if they learned - by watching you - that their own ambitions matter too?

Pursuing your goals isn’t taking time away from your family - it’s showing them what’s possible.

So, what’s one thing you’re ready to prioritise for yourself?

A career move, a creative passion, a dream you’ve put off for too long?

This week, I challenge you to take one small step towards it. Block out time in your calendar. Say yes to something that excites you. Make the first move.

Because if not now… when?
